LGBTQ+ Social Group represent TCG at Manchester Pride 2022

Manchester Pride is one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charities. Their vision is a world where LGBTQ+ people are free to live and love without prejudice. Manchester Pride is part of a global Pride movement celebrating LGBTQ+ equality and challenging discrimination.

Our LGBTQ+ Social Group, supported by our pastoral officers, visits Manchester Pride each year to join the March for Pride and celebrate the movement.

This year, the theme was ‘March for Peace’. Our LGBTQ+ Social Group created their very own signature tie-dye t-shirts to wear on the parade day.

We spoke to Trafford College student Jess, currently in her second year of A-Level Psychology, about her experience at the parade:

“Walking in the parade for the first time was so surreal. It was a really amazing, overwhelmingly fun experience. I was very nervous at first but the nerves quickly turned to excitement and gave me a huge adrenaline rush.

Being surrounded by people I relate to and feeling so accepted, and being able to share the experience with lovely members of our college- it was just amazing. The crowds were filled to the brim with pride and emotion and enjoyment.

It was over in no time and I can’t wait to do it all over again next year.”

Here at the Trafford College Group, our college values focus on inclusivity and community. We are so proud of our students and we can’t wait for the LGBTQ+ Social Group to represent TCG again next year at Manchester Pride 2023.

Many thanks to students Finn Hale and Liberty Joul for the photography.
