In a joint venture between A Level Media Studies and BETC Creative Media Practice, students have had the opportunity to further explore the transformative impact of image and sound technologies with a trip to the Bradford Science and Media Museum.

As well as visiting the various sections of the museum (Photography, Sound, Experience TV, Animation, and Advertising) students visited the Games Lounge, an interactive exhibition that enabled them to follow the development of videogaming through the decades, learning about the evolution of digital gaming and the history of animation within videogames.

With the opportunity to experience the immersion of an IMAX 3D documentary film related to environmental issues, students were left feeling inspired about the opportunities ahead, considering their futures and the technical production aspects of careers in Media.

A Future in Media

Through our courses in Media and Film, students study a wide range of media products, undertaking detailed analysis of how the media communicate meanings in a variety of froms. They are able to debate the social, cultural and economic relevance and impact of the media as well as the way TV, radio, film, news, music, publishing, social media, advertising and games are constructed to better understand the powerful and complex messages we receive.
